Description An account of the resource Giovanni Manenti's work is a collection of three Aristotelian texts which had a wide circulation during the Middle Ages: according to Zinelli 2000: 538-541, Manenti's vernacular version of the Secret of secrets seems to draw on Vivaldo Belcalzèr's translation (cf. ms. Florence, BNC, Pal. 115); the Ethics is in fact an independent Italian version of the compendium which is part of Brunetto Latini's Trésor (cf. Degli Innocenti 2008: 66-67); the Physiognomy, which often follows the Secret of secrets in the manuscript tradition, closes the volume. Except for the compendium of the Ethics, Manenti's Secret of secrets and Physiognomy were reprinted in 1669. For the vernacular tradition of Pseudo-Aristotle's Secret of secrets, cf. The work is conceived as a compendium of the treatise, but it is largely indebted to Dante's poetry as well, in terms of both structure and content. Ms. Florence, BNC, Magl. VI.243 is a miscellaneous codex containing several works by different authors (including Leon Battista Alberti and Luigi Alamanni) and related to the circle of Giovanni Berti. The copy is not autograph and very probably follows the printed edition of La Fisica (Paris: Pierre Le Voirrier, 1578); ms. Florence, BNC, Pal. 349 is instead an autograph copy by Jacopo Corbinelli who was the editor of the text as well as the author of the commentary on La Fisica which follows Del Rosso's text in the parisian edition of 1578. The manuscript does not contain such commentary, but several marginal glosses which attest a sort of preliminary redaction of Corbinelli's annotations. Description An account of the resource The treatise on the soul by the dominican Jacopo Campora from Genova, written in Bruges in 1432 and dedicated to the Venetian merchant Giovanni Marcanova, who put Campora up on the occasion of his stay in London, had a wide circulation both in mss. and printed editions. The work is conceived as a compendium in the form of a dialogue between the author and the dedicatee, mainly addressed to vernacular readers not acquainted with erudite and theological contents. Aristotle's On the Soul is a crucial source in Campora's work, but the author draws on other sources as well (e.g. Church Fathers).
