Title A name given to the resource Authors Author A page with information and bio on a given author Notes Any additional notes The author (d. 1490), usually known as Frate Lazzaro da Padova was a quite interesting figure: son of the grammarian Damiano da Pola, he studied in Florence and then in Paris where he got the degree in theology in 1460. He was later in London where he was in touch with some Florentine merchants (cf. his poetical correspondence with Giovanni Frescobaldi); there he probably translated Leonardo Bruni's Laudatio urbis Florentinae. He moved again to Paris (1473) and later back to Padua, where he spent his late years in the convent of St. Augustin. He was the author of some orations as well (cf. Gargan 1971: 131-134; Kaeppeli: III, 69-70, nn. 2825-2831).
