Known as Baccio Valori 'il giovane' (the younger), in order to distinguish him from his ancestor Baccio Valori (d. 1537). He joined the Florentine senate under Ferdinando I; he was librarian of the Biblioteca Laurenziana and president of the Accademia del disegno.
