Discorso del soggetto, del numero, dell'uso et della dignità  et ordine degl'habiti dell'animo

Title

Discorso del soggetto, del numero, dell'uso et della dignità  et ordine degl'habiti dell'animo

Description

The Discorso was written in 1565 by Francesco De Vieri on the occasion of Francesco I de Medici's wedding; it is thus dedicated to the duke and his wife, Johanna of Austria. The work, conceived as a thorough discussion of philosophy and its disciplinary subdivisions, is very rich in Aristotelian references concerning all the fields of knowledge. The Discorso, witnessed by a manuscript (now Paris, BNF, It. 965) which might the dedicatory copy, was later printed and provided with a prefatory epistle to the readers which approaches and discusses the author's choice to write (and publish) such a text in the vernacular.
